Victorian Performance at Age Nationals

Day 1 of the 2019 Australian Age Diving Championships has proved to be a very successful outing for members of the Victorian Team. The opening day was preceeded by the outstanding display of diving by our young State Team Challenge athletes - securing gold on Sunday night. The team, coached by former Olympian Jenny Donnet and comprising of Xavier Cox, Lana Renieris, Kiera Field and Luca Jarvis set the standard for the entire competition by inspiring the Victorian team through their exceptional performances overnight.

In a wonderful display of participation, Pam Downing (Whitehorse) won gold in the masters 50+ Women's 3m event alongside her fellow competitor Katy Rosenthal from New South Wales with a tied final placing. Rohan Blake (PLC Aquatic) also dominated his event in the 50+ Men's 3m securing the gold medal for Victoria. 

The young Victorian team continued to shine throughout the day!

Thomas Williams (Ringwood) finished in 2nd place on the 1m springboard in the 11/U boys age group, whilst the boys 12/13 years on 3m showcased the exceptional ability of Eddie Lee (St Kevins) and Hamish Botchell (Ringwood) securing 2nd and 3rd place respectively, with Darcy Phelan (Ringwood) rounding out a strong performance.

The girls 14/15 age group in the 1m springboard competition had a strong field of Victorian competitiors and Sabine Keenan (Ringwood) just missed the bronze medal with Caitlin Murphy, Lea Malina and Edie Mitra (PLC) and Chloe Delzoppo (Ringwood) all performing their best.

In the older age groups, Amy Kenny (Slipstream) won gold and Abby Rowley (MelAm) took home the silver medal in the 16/18 years girls platform event in a large field including Victorian comrades Mia Robinson and Claire Lumsden (Whitehorse); Madison Moore, Caitlin Westcott, Piper Bennett and Emily Foord (Ringwood); Natasjia Voulanas (PLC) and Sophie Parton (MEDA) rounding out the competition field.

The Women's 19/24 age group in 3m springboard saw Sarah Gardner (Whitehorse) narrowly miss out on a medal placing, finishing in 4th place, whilst Catherine Ives (Ringwood) secured 6th place in the event. The Men's 3m event in the same age group saw Reuben Roessler (Ringwood) winning the silver medal with a fantastic display of diving!

Victorian athletes shone again in the 13/U synchro 3m event with Lana Renieris / Grace Jacobs (Whitehorse) winning the gold medal and partners Kiara Field (Bendigo) / Leyanna Brown (Ringwood) and Rachel O'Sullivan (MelAm) / Ella Bailey (MEDA) all competing exceptionally well.

The day concluded with the 14/18 Boys/Mixed 3m synchro with the gold medal being awarded to Sabine Keenan / Zach Hutchings (Ringwood) closely followed by silver medallists Luca Jarvis / Amy Kenny (Slipstream).
