Three divers have taken home prestigious awards at the Annual Victorian School Sports Awards.
The 22nd Victorian School Sports Awards recognised local athletes who have excelled at sports across Victoria, Australia and the world.
Specifically, the awards are given to students, teachers, parents and volunteers who have excelled or made an outstanding contribution to school sport.
Alia South, Rachel Foord and Nathan Hatton each took home a prestigious 'Sporting Blue Award' for their respective achievements over the past 12 months.
The divers were presented on stage with the following year recaps:
Alia South
'Alia has competed in the Victorian State Championships for the past three years and has represented Victoria at three Australian Age Diving Championships. She has been selected in the State Team Challenge Victorian team for the past two years, winning the title for Victoria in 2015 and she was named Australian Diver of the Year, 11 and under girls in 2014, and was runner up for the title in 2015.
Alia has been part of Team Vic for the School Sport Australia diving championships for the past two years and represented Victoria at the 2015 Pacific School Games as junior team captain.'
Rachel Foord
'Rachel began diving in 2011 and has represented her school and Diving Victoria at a national level for the past three years. In 2015 she competed in her first Australian Open and World Qualifier, competing against Olympic and Commonwealth Games medalists and at the Australian Elite Junior Championships.
Rachel represented her school at the Victorian All Schools Championships in years 11 and 12 and came first at both Regional and State. She competed on all boards and in the synchro event at the Pacific School Games in November.'
Nathan Hatton
'Nathan began diving in 2013 and is already making his mark, training for 26 hours a week as part of the Diving Victoria High Performance Program.
At his first interstate competition in July 2015, Nathan represented Victoria in the National Junior Elite Championship where he came third on platform and fifth on 3 metre springboard, both with personal best scores.
Fast forward to November's Pacific School Games where Nathan won four gold medals and a bronze medal, coming first in 1 metre springboard, platform, pairs synchro and teams synchro.'
