The 2015 Pullar Family Championships are set for this weekend at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) from Friday 16 – Sunday 18 October.
The Championships serve as a qualifying meet for the Australian Age Championships (14-17 April 2016), Australian Open Championships (TBC 5-8 May 2016) and the Australian Elite Junior Championships (8-10 July 2016).
The Pullar Family Championships are set to showcase the Victorian springboard powerhouses Anabelle Smith (RDC/VIS) and Joshua Kehagias (MEDA/VIS), and will also feature the talents of WA’s Maddison Keeney and Queensland’s Emily Meaney.
Diving Victoria wishes all athletes competing the best of luck this weekend as they turn their attention towards qualifying for Nationals in 2016.
The Pullar Family
Philip Pullar is a Life Member of Diving Victoria and Diving Australia. He was a Board member of Diving Australia from 1990 – 2008 and Chairman from 1996-2008. Philip was an instrumental figure throughout the establishment of the VIS diving program in 2009. For over 4 years he was involved with the planning of Ringwood’s newly opened Aquanation, commuting regularly from Cobram to Melbourne for meetings.
Wendy Pullar is highly respected in the world of diving as a dedicated diving coach, level 6 official and judge.
Philip and Wendy’s son, Dean, is an Olympic Bronze Medalist in 3 Metre Synchro at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Diving with Robert Newbury, the pair spun their way to the first male Australian Olympic medal since 1924.
