It’s a wrap!

Diving Victoria held its annual Dive Fest last week, in doing so providing a host of young divers a series of workshops and experiences.

Commencing on Tuesday September 22, divers worked on specific warm-up and dry diving activities, before breaking for lunch and a Nutrition and Exercise Science session with resident expert Amanda Main. The divers were taken through a series of exercises where they analysed their current diet and sleep patterns, as well as looking at ways they can better prepare and recover from intensive training.

Divers completed their day with an extensive pool session, with a strong focus on the harness.

Day 2 saw much of the same, but with Ann Sissons conducting a valuable and interactive ‘What the judges judge’ session, allowing divers to learn more about the specifics of judging and what they can do to enhance their chances of better scores in competition.

Day 3 allowed divers to further establish skills learnt in both the dry dive and pool areas over the previous two days. The day also included a video analysis session, building on the ‘What the judges judge’ learnings of the previous day and analysing the differences between a good dive and a great dive.

Each diver who participated in the 3-day Dive Fest received a certificate of completion, and hopefully, a few extra skills to take back to their respective clubs and programs!

Diving Victoria thanks all who contributed to and participated in Dive Fest 2015, including Amanda Main, Ann Sissons, the respective coaches and the divers themselves.

We’ll see you back next year!
