Diving Victoria is pleased to introduce three support staff, all of whom have been lending their talents to Diving Victoria in a voluntary capacity as interns over the course of the last three months.

The three individuals bring an array of skills and experience to their respective roles, and are working in targeted areas.

Karishma Vase possesses a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Media & Communications) from the University of Melbourne. Karishma is currently a Junior Development Gymnastics Coach involved in high performance, and also coaches secondary school gymnastics and works for BounceInc.

Karishma is working for Diving Victoria primarily in the communications area. Among her focus areas are the weekly newsletter, the development of a member handbook, the development of athlete profiles, media relations and media releases, and the further development of the website and digital space.

Luke Lehmann recently completed his degree, a Bachelor of Commerce (Sports Management) from Curtin University. During his studies, he has interned at a number of sporting organisations, including AFL Victoria, Williamstown Football Club and the Southern Football and Netball League.

After serving in the Royal Australian Air Force as an Air Surveillance Operator, Luke resided in Scotland and Ireland for a 10-year period, where he traveled extensively throughout Europe.

Among other projects, Luke is completing a comprehensive facility audit of the state, looking at both existing facilities and future opportunities. Luke’s role with the AFL sees him working directly with schools, many regionally, in the development of trial programs.

Kate Smart is a former secondary school English teacher who holds a Masters in Global Media Communication, and is currently writing a thesis on the Internet and the passions that drive blogging. Kate is also passionate about telling people’s stories and about sports communication.

Kate has worked with the Australian Open and written extensively about cycling. Currently a blogger and freelance writer, Kate maintains two blogs, The Shanking Soigneur (http://theshankingsoigneur.com) and Sport Media Theory (http://sportmediatheory.com).

Kate has been working on creating media content for Diving Victoria, as well as building ideas for better profiling the sport.
