Dive Fest Event Wrap

Published Fri 07 Oct 2016

The Annual Diving Victoria 'Dive Fest' again saw divers descend on MSAC to learn more about the intricacies of the sport and how to get the best out of themselves.

Set over three days (Tuesday 27/9 to Thursday 29/9), divers partook in a series of both dry land and water sessions, focused on skill development and technique.

In addition, a guest speaker joined the group on each respective day to provide a session on their area of expertise.

On Tuesday, renowned judge and Diving Victoria President Fiona Carter took the group through a 'what the judges judge' session, focusing on the difference between a good score and a great score, and the small tips on how to achieve the latter.

On Wednesday, the group was joined by Olympic bronze medallist Anabelle Smith, who presented on her recent Olympic experience and the dedication it took to get there. All divers in attendance received a photo with Anabelle, which was then signed and laminated for each diver to take home.

On Thursday, Loren Chambers (VIS) presented on nutrition and dietetics, in a practical session focused on divers making smart eating choices.

Feedback forms have been sent to all participants in the pursuit of again improving this annual event in 2017.

Diving Victoria thanks all participants and presenters for their involvement over the three days.
