Level 1 Diving Coach Practical Workshop

This 2 day course and is one component to becoming an NCAS Level 1 Accredited Diving Coach. Level 1 candidates must be 16 years of age by the time of accreditation.
Steps to becoming an accredited Level 1 Coach:
- Become a member of Diving Victoria
- If you are currently a member you may login and register for the course.
- If you are not yet a member of Diving Victoria, Join as a member (any member type) from the MEMBERSHIP page. Once you are paid as a member you can register for the course.
- You are no longer required to be registered as a Coach Trainee to earn your supervised hours but you MUST be a member of Diving Victoria/Diving Australia and will be required to Upgrade to a Coach before final accreditation.
- Register for the Level 1 Diving Coach Practical Workshop
- Once registered, within 2-3 days you will receive a link and login information to complete the Diving Australia online course modules: Level 1 Online Training Course & Dryland Training Course.
- Complete all of the other pre-requisites (below)
- Complete the 2 day Level 1 Practical Workshop
- Complete 25 supervised coaching hours (see below)
- Submit: log of the coaching hours; completed assessment from the supervising coach; signed DA/DV Declaration and Signed Coaches Code of Ethics Form
- Pay $15 processing fee directly to Diving Australia

Pre-requisites
- Completion of Diving Australian E-Learning Resources (links and passwords will be sent to you upon registration of this course
- DA NCAS Level 1 Coach Education Course
- Introduction to Dryland Training
- Completion of the Play By the Rules: 'Child Protection' & 'Harassment and Discrimination' (online course)
- Completion of the Community Coaching General Principles (online course)
- ASADA (online course) - Level 1 Anti-Doping Course
- Match-fixing (online course)
- Level 1 First Aid or equivalent, through a provider of your choice. Must include Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification.
- Working With Children Check Card
Once all online components and the full course has been completed trainee coaches must then complete 25 hours of supervised coaching hours with an approved Level 2 coach. It is suggested that these hours be done with multiple coaches to provide a wide variety of coaching experiences. Supervising coaches must be approved. A detailed log of hours and activities completed must be kept and certain activities must be completed during those hours.
Each day of the practical there will be a break for lunch. Lunch will not be provided. There is a cafe on site or many eateries near by. There is also a refrigerator and microwave for your use.
