Introduction to Judging Workshop
Event information
Registrations for this event are closed.
This is a new course offering that has been designed for the purpose of introducing interested members of our community to the art and skill of judging diving!
The course will be delivered by Edward Mercieca. Eddie is a Diving Australia Level 4 Judge and regularly judges at both national and state level diving competitions.
This Workshop will be delivered in 3 Phases and is designed to ensure that all participants are Level 1 certified by the end of this offering.
Phase 1 will be a Workshop that will begin at 9:00am in the Mind Body Studio at Aquanation. During this time, Eddie will present some of the basic principles of dive judging. This will roughly coincide with the Open Warm Up training time for the Club Challenge Series (#6) and will run for approximately 1 hour.
Phase 2, will involve shadow judging of Event 2 of the Club Challenge Series. For this practical exercise, Workshop participants will observe the standside competition and have the opportunity to freely discuss prospective dive scores and their justification with Eddie in an informal setting off of the pooldeck.
At the conclusion of Phase 2, there will be a half hour debrief in the Ringwood Swimming Club room (Pool Deck) which may include some video analysis of specific dives from the event for further questions and discussion.
As this will be the first time Diving Victoria have run a judging workshop in this way, spots are necessarily limited to ensure we can continue to refine our approach to furthering our judging pathways and participation.
If you have ever considered becoming a judge or are open to learning about how it all works, Diving Victoria encourages you to register for this free, informal and interactive workshop.
We look forward to seeing you there!
