FUNdamentals Coaching Accreditation
Diving Victoria is incredibly excited to announce our next FUNdamentals coaching accreditation course in Victoria, through Diving Australia.
This coaching qualification is specifically designed for brand new coaches who want to specialise in the participation level of our sport (think ‘Learn to Dive’ or ‘Dive School’) and equally, those who would like a more gradual step into the competitive space. This is the perfect way to get involved in one of Australia’s most exciting sports.
Diving Victoria is keen to use this qualification to bring a new wave of coaches to our sport, who will support our goal of increasing participation in Victoria.

Presbyterian Ladies College, Burwood VIC
- Cost: $100
- Entries Close Monday 12th December - or before if full
- Minimum numbers must be met for the course to go-ahead
Who is this for?
- People who want to be Coaches
- Non-divers who can inject fun into any type of learning
- Former divers who want to stay involved in the sport
- Participants from other sports or coaching fields
- Anyone aged 16 or over
What’s involved?
- Complete the ‘PLAY BY THE RULES Child Protection, Anti-Harassment and Discrimination’ online course: 1 hr
- Complete the Diving Australia Child Safe Course 1 hr
- Successfully complete the FUNdamentals online course: 1 hr
- Complete the face-to-face practical course led by the State Coaching Coordinator: 2 hrs
- Obtain or have a current first aid certificate - Have a current Working with Children Clearance - Sign the Diving Australia FUNdamentals Coach’s Code of Ethics
- Times are approximate
- No supervised hours are required, but arranging this with a parent club is recommended – DV can support candidates with this
What will your FUNdamental Accreditation give you?
- Knowledge of how to coach safely and with Child Protection at the forefront of what you do
- Class management skills
- Lesson plans and an ability to create your own
- Diving Skills from the poolside – forward jumps, back jumps, forward dives, back dives, forward somersaults, jumps with twist
- Basic diving skills from the 1 metre board – forward jumps, forward entries
- A certificate of accreditation from Diving Australia
Pre-requisites
- Completion of Diving Australia 'FUNdamentals E-Learning Resources (links and passwords will be sent to you upon registration of this course)
- Completion of the Play By the Rules: 'Child Protection' & 'Harassment and Discrimination' (online course)
- Completion of Diving Australia Child Safe (online course https://www.diving.org.au/assess/3410/)
- Level 1 First Aid or equivalent, through a provider of your choice. Must include Anaphylaxis and Asthma certification.
- Working With Children Check Card
***Please note that in order to receive your final accreditation you will need to become a Coach Member of Diving Victoria***
